Export to InDesign

If your firm lays out its proposals in InDesign, the InDesign format in Export the Service Offer gives you the proposal's text, ready to place in your template. Clarido does not do the layout. It saves you from retyping the text.

How to export

Choose InDesign, then Export. You get a zip that contains:

• the whole proposal as one text (<project>.icml);
• each section in its own file (01 Executive Summary.icml, 02 …), to place sections on separate pages;
• the images these texts use, including the schedule's Gantt chart;
• InDesign styles.txt, the list of styles these texts use.

Unzip the folder and keep the files together, because each text finds its images next to it.

In InDesign

In your document, choose File > Place, pick an .icml file, and click in a text frame. The text arrives with its headings, lists, tables, notes and images.

Set up your template, once

Each paragraph carries a style name, always the same from one proposal to the next. Create these styles in your InDesign template, each one based on your own style (for example Titre 1 based on your section heading). Texts you place afterwards will take your layout.

This table shows the main styles. InDesign styles.txt gives the exact list for each export.

When two styles meet, the name combines them. A bold passage that is also a link carries Gras + Lien, and a heading inside a block of your palette carries the block's name followed by its own (Encadré + Titre 2). Your writing palette's styles keep their names.

Good to know

The style names are in French for every proposal, French or English, so one template serves both.

A CV arrives as text, taken from the person's profile in your library. A section that is still empty carries the note [To be completed].
